Summary

Treatment with injectable fillers, botulinumtoxin A and lasers as well as chemical peelings are the corner stones of aesthetic dermatology. Unwanted or adverse events after these interventions are most unwelcome and should be avoided as best as possible. When treating with injectable fillers some basic rules apply – not only for less or unexperienced but also for the more experienced medical doctors. What are these rules? The selection (1) of the right filler by the level of evidence, (2) of the right patient, (3) of the right indication and (4) of the injectable filler that is most suitable for this indication. Two other important points are (5) the skills of the treating physician and if something happens (6) the right management of adverse events. Following these rules should help to secure happy patients and treating physicians.

Zusammenfassung

Behandlungen mit injizierbaren Füllmaterialien, Botulinumtoxin A und Laser sowie chemische Peelingverfahren sind die Schwerpunkte der ästhetischen Dermatologie. Unerwünschte Ergebnisse oder Wirkungen sind nicht gewollt und sollten soweit es geht strikt vermieden werden. Bei Behandlungen mit injizierbaren Füllmaterialien sollten weniger erfahrene und unerfahrene Ärzte aber auch erfahrene Kollegen einige Regeln beachten. Dazu zählen die Auswahl (1) des geeigneten Füllers anhand der zugrunde liegenden Evidenz, (2) des „richtigen“ Patienten, (3) der richtigen Indikation und (4) des für diese Indikation geeigneten Füllmaterials. Hinzu kommen (5) die Kenntnisse des Behandlers und – falls etwas passiert (6) der richtige Umgang mit unerwünschten Wirkungen. Eine Beachtung dieser Regeln sollte zu einer verbesserten Zufriedenheit von Patient und Behandler führen.
